The short version

FLUX 3 offers several ways to make a short video. The useful distinction is what you start with, what must stay accurate and how many approved seconds you get for the total production cost.

Start with a production question

FLUX 3 Video is Black Forest Labs’ video-generation offering, made generally available on August 4, 2026. The provider describes joint picture and sound generation, text-led scenes, image keyframes and continuation. Its launch description distinguishes HD generation from higher-resolution output produced through upscaling. That distinction matters when comparing a delivered file with a claim about native resolution.

The practical question is not whether the model can produce an impressive sample. Ask whether it can make the particular shot your audience needs. A decorative brand scene, an accurate product demonstration and a fictional dialogue have different acceptance criteria. Decide which one you are making before choosing the input mode.

Consider a fictional desk-accessory brand introducing a folding phone stand. An atmospheric shot can suggest a tidier desk, but a demonstration must show the actual hinge, supports and phone position accurately. If generated movement changes the mechanism, the clip is unsuitable as evidence of how the product works even if its lighting looks excellent.

Choose a mode by the material you already have

Use text-led generation for a scene that can be described without an exact supplied first frame. Use image-led generation when approved visual material should anchor the sequence. Continuation addresses an existing clip rather than starting over. These are not interchangeable ways to spend the same request: they impose different input requirements and can have different prices.

For the phone stand, a text-only environment study might establish the desk and camera angle. An image-led test can begin with a verified product photograph. A continuation test might explore the moment after a hand places a phone. Keep the three tests separate so you know which part of the workflow produced a failure.

Do not use the name of a planned capability as proof that it is available. BFL’s documentation separates the current modes from forthcoming editing and broader reference functionality. The same caution applies to open weights: a roadmap for FLUX 3 Dev is not a downloadable license for every hosted video feature.

Read the specification as a set of constraints

The current documentation lists 5–20 seconds for text/image generation and 5–15 for continuation, at 24 fps. Text/image input supports up to ten keyframes. Seven aspect ratios include 9:16. Drafts use HD; FHD is finished through an upsampler. Verify these settings on the route you actually buy, especially when a reseller presents different names.

Duration is a ceiling, not a target. If a viewer understands the stand’s purpose after one action, additional camera movement may weaken the post. Sketch the opening, useful action and ending first. Then choose a length that gives those beats enough room without adding a slow introduction just to use the maximum allowance.

For a portrait placement, compose the product and explanatory text for 9:16 from the beginning. A landscape scene cropped later can lose the hand or the result. Leave room for destination controls and captions. Review the entire movement, not only the attractive frame used as a thumbnail.

Calculate the mode you will actually use

The documented full-render rates are $0.17 per second for HD and $0.29 for FHD on text/image generation. Continuation is $0.43 and $0.54 respectively. Drafts are $0.06 per second for text/image, but $0.12 for continuation. The distinction corrects the assumption that every draft uses the same rate.

At those rates, an eight-second HD text-led render is $1.36; an eight-second text-led draft is $0.48. A twenty-second FHD text-led render is $5.80. These are arithmetic examples of output charges, not quotes for a finished advertisement. Check current billing and any extra services before approving a budget.

Build your estimate around accepted work. Suppose you explore three concepts, make two drafts of each and finish one selected take. Record the actual charged attempts and enhancement route rather than calling the final render your entire cost. Add editing and review time separately. This makes a cheap but frequently rejected workflow comparable with a more reliable one.

Use drafts to answer one question at a time

A draft is useful when it resolves uncertainty. First test whether the action reads clearly. Then investigate framing or pace if necessary. If every attempt changes the product, camera, lighting and script at once, you may obtain variety without learning which choice improved the result.

For the fictional stand, one question could be whether the hand blocks the hinge. Another could be whether the final phone angle is obvious. Write these questions beside the draft names. Reject a beautiful scene that fails the required action instead of keeping it because it took several attempts to produce.

BFL documents a draft-enhancement route using the selected draft’s cache. A fresh full-generation submission is a different operation and can reinterpret the scene. Preserve the selected draft and its associated job information. Ask the operator to enhance that approved candidate rather than loosely requesting another version that looks similar.

Give keyframes distinct jobs

A starting image can establish the product’s identity and position. A final image can establish the intended result. Intermediate images should clarify an important transition rather than repeat nearly identical views. The more constraints you supply, the more important it is that they agree about object shape, lighting and orientation.

Create a reference inventory before uploading. Label the approved product photo, setting reference and intended final arrangement, and check that you have permission to use each. Do not include a competitor’s advertisement simply because it offers a convenient pose or shot. Build your own direction from the underlying visual idea.

When reviewing the result, compare details throughout the sequence. Look at the number of supports, the phone’s orientation and the contact between objects. A correct first frame does not establish that the mechanism remains correct during motion. If an essential detail repeatedly fails, replace that beat with verified footage instead of escalating prompt complexity indefinitely.

Treat audio as another deliverable

Jointly generated sound can simplify scene creation, but listen independently of the picture. Check whether speech says exactly what was approved, whether effects correspond to the action and whether the background distracts from the message. A realistic click can imply a locking mechanism that the actual stand does not have.

For dialogue, give the speaker one clear purpose. Avoid packing product specifications into an unnatural sentence simply because the model can speak. If the claim needs a qualification, keep it in the spoken or visible message rather than hiding it in production notes. A convincing delivery does not make an unsupported statement acceptable.

Test the muted version too. The opening should still identify the situation, and captions should convey important speech accurately. On the sound-on version, compare the voice with effects and music at ordinary playback volume. A clip should not require the viewer to adjust volume repeatedly to understand the explanation.

Continue a scene without losing its meaning

Continuation is most valuable when the existing movement or sound must carry into the next beat. Before extending, decide what remains fixed and what changes. If the original scene already completes its purpose, an extension may create more review work without improving the post.

Inspect the join carefully. Compare camera direction, object positions, lighting and sound before and after it. Then review the new ending. A seamless join is not enough if the continuation invents another product function or drifts away from the intended call to action.

Budget this mode separately because its rate differs from a fresh text-led clip. An ordinary edit may solve the problem more cheaply: cutting to verified product footage, shortening a pause or ending on a still. Choose continuation because it serves the story, not because it is the newest control in the interface.

Compare models on a repeatable brief

BFL reports favorable internal preference testing. That is evidence of the provider’s evaluation, not proof of a universal winner or of campaign performance. Do not turn an internal score into a claim that every product scene, language or reference set will work better than another model.

Use the same approved brief with each candidate. Keep the required action, available references, duration and acceptance criteria consistent. Record what you changed to make each tool work, including extra editing. Comparing one carefully tuned sample with another tool’s first attempt mainly measures unequal effort.

Separate generation and editing tasks. A model that invents an attractive room may not preserve a supplied object well. Another may handle reference material but need more help with dialogue. Choose for the production job you repeat, not for an overall ranking that hides those differences.

Keep media quality separate from business results

A polished clip can still communicate the wrong benefit. Before publication, ask someone outside production what product they think it shows, what problem it solves and what they would do next. If the answer differs from the brief, revise the message before debating resolution.

After publication, distinguish reach, viewing behavior and meaningful actions. Compare posts over consistent observation windows and use the destination’s definitions. Do not call a view a signup, or assume a new account is throttled without inspecting actual eligibility and performance information.

Use the response to form the next creative question. If viewers ask how the hinge works, make an accurate demonstration. If they understand the mechanism but not why they need it, improve the situation and benefit. Neither problem is automatically solved by changing the video model.

Make the handoff reliable

Keep the approved export, brief, source permissions and version information together. BFL documents time-limited result links, so a job URL should not be the only production record. Download the completed asset through the authorized workflow and confirm it plays before treating the task as delivered.

The final review should cover picture, audio, captions, claims and destination settings. If an edit changes the approved statement or depiction, send that version back through review. Label synthetic material where required and avoid presenting a fictional scene as a customer’s experience.

A small test before a large batch

For the phone-stand example, begin with one verified photograph and one short action. Produce a limited set of drafts, review the mechanism and select only an accurate candidate. Finish the chosen version, add the approved message and inspect a portrait preview. This gives the team a complete production rehearsal without filling a folder with unreviewed footage.

Write down what made a candidate acceptable and what caused rejection. Save one representative failure too, if you have a legitimate reason to retain it, so future operators recognize the problem. The record should explain a decision, not just celebrate the best-looking output.

Only expand the batch when the process is repeatable. Set a budget, an approval owner and a destination check for the next group. The aim is a reliable way to publish useful content, with clear limits and accurate product representation, rather than a promise that a particular model makes every creative decision disappear.

A few useful answers.

Is Full HD the same as native Full HD generation?

Not necessarily. The BFL release and current documentation describe higher-resolution finishing through upsampling. Inspect the selected route and delivered dimensions. A larger file can help a layout, but it does not establish that product text, geometry or movement became accurate. Check those details against the original approved reference.

Are drafts priced identically for every input mode?

No. The documented continuation draft rate is different from text/image drafts. Use the mode-specific table and current billing quote. Also distinguish an enhanced selected draft from a fresh generation. The finished clip’s output charge is only one part of a production estimate that includes rejected attempts and review.

Does FLUX 3 replace a product shoot?

It can be evaluated for particular illustrative shots. If the post needs proof of fit, assembly, texture or mechanical behavior, use footage that accurately demonstrates the product. A generated depiction must not quietly invent those properties. Combining an illustrative scene with verified footage can be more useful than asking one generator to do everything.

Can I use the same result on every social platform?

Keep an approved master, then check each destination’s format, rights, disclosure settings and preview. Caption space and available publishing features can differ. An exported file is not automatically a successful post, so verify the live result. This guide does not promise that Postraid accepts every external generator’s output.
